Poster: EI Prayer

EIMC_2018_Poster_Prayer

East Indians are a devout bunch, ask any parish priest in Bombay. Among the Catholic groups in the city, the love we have for our beloved gaothans is legendary, as is the fervour with which we dance to our urti gaani* and the relish with which we gobble up our fugias**.

Well, it only seemed right to ensure that we had an appropriate prayer to send up to the Lord to protect the three important things in any East Indian’s life.

We have placed the prayer on another iconic part of East Indian life – the handwoven lugra – sure to pop out on any wall in your home.

*East Indian songs are traditionally upbeat and tend to make you fly on your feet whilst dancing (urti means flying)
**fugias are deep-fried, cotton-soft balls of flour
